The First Turn
"Now I'm in my car
I've got the radio down
And I'm yelling at the kids in the back
'Cause they're banging like Charlie Watts
You think you've come so far
In this one horse town
Then she's laughing that crazy laugh
'Cause you haven't left the parking lot
Time is short and here's the damn thing about it
You're gonna die, gonna die for sure
And you can learn to live with love or without it
But there ain't no cure
There's just a slow turning
From the inside out
Slow turning
But you come about
A slow learning
But you learn to sway
A slow turning
And not fade away..."
That's the theme, for the moment at least. I've been listening to that song since at least 1988 or 89. I've probably heard it well over 300 times and it still gets me.
You can find wisdom and guidance in odd places, and that's where I tend to look. If it's in the self help section of the local Border's or on Oprah, it probably won't mean much to me. Hell, the stranger the better, I say.
So this is post number one and thanks to John Hiatt for the name and the wisdom. I've found myself in need of such guidance a lot lately.
