State, do no harm

Atrios links here to a Glen Greenwald post that again exposes Jonah Goldberg as, at best, a hypocrite, but also just a miserable excuse for a human being.

Beyond needing re-education in civics, Jonah could use some lessons in child psychology and the role of the state. Last time I checked, one of the roles of the state - underfunded, neglected and frequently mismanaged - was to protect children from circumstances where bad parenting was a severe threat . Apparently, Jonah lives in Bizzarro world where the state plays the opposite role, taking a potentially harmful situation with long term, negative consequences for kids, and making it much worse.

Thanks, Atrios. Now, can you do something about this oppressive fog in Philadelphia so I can go home?
