Sam Alito: Turning over a new leaf

The headlines on every news site I've seen today trumpet Sam Alito's "Open Mind" on abortion and Roe. Apparently, we can disregard everything he's ever said or done until about 9:00 a.m. EST today and just go on his words to his adoring fans on the Republican side of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I know it's a stupid question, but is anyone actually up to reporting? Does anyone understand the impact of banner headlines? Unfortunately, I think the answers are no and yes, respectively.
